There are some key races in New York that remain undecided. But the Senate and Assembly won't change that much. Governor-elect Cuomo has issued an "urban agenda" where he devotes six paragraphs to early childhood education; it's largely about pre-K and we'll need to work with his team to do more. In Washington, D.C., where change is coming, advocates are organizing a national call-in to Congress on Nov. 15. Tell your elected officials that 300,000 children could suffer if they don't pass an appropriations bill to cover the Child Care and Development Block Grant and Head Start! -- Dana E. Friedman, Ed.D., President, The Early Years Institute |

| EYI always strives to bring new ideas, practices and insights to Long Island that help us to better understand how to help children succeed in school and in life. We're excited to host Lenore Skenazy, known as "America's Worst Mom," because she describes the impact of parenting on children in a way that makes us laugh--and then think twice. For most of our conference's other speakers, it'll be their first time presenting on Long Island. "We Interrupt this Program: Playing and Learning in the Age of Hyper-Media" will be held at CA Technologies in Islandia on Friday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There's still time to register... click here or call (516) 304-5480 today! |
