GDA Corp.
This month, Geospatial Data Analysis Corporation (GDA)
released a new online ordering system to support Rapid Crop Mapping and
Satellite Image Processing Products as defined within the GDA Prime Vendor
Contract with the USDA. The online ordering system allows searching and
selection of P6-AWiFS and P6-LISS-3 scenes within the USDA Satellite Image
Archive, as well as Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ scenes from the entire USGS
archive, ordering GDA's products and providing an automated approval process. The goal of the online ordering system
is to provide a high level of automation in the selection, ordering and
approval of image processing and agricultural intelligence products, greatly
improving overall efficiency and reducing the potential for errors during this
process. The system now supports GDA's 72 hour turnaround delivery commitment
to FAS (Foreign Agriculture Service) for international crop mapping and image
processing products.GDA's online ordering
system is available, at no additional cost, in support of an annual
subscription to GDA's Image Processing and Agricultural Intelligence products.
Key highlights of the new online ordering system include: -
Highly automated system from scene
selection through approval process and notification of completed work.
- Ability to select imagery from
multiple sensors including Landsat 5 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+, P6-AWiFS and P6-LISS-3.
- Directly ties to GDA's automated
scene collection process allowing for real time updates of scene availability
and easy access to new sensors in the future.
- Powerful spatial-temporal search
engine, filtering and visualization tools to aid in scene selection.
- Easy order placement for GDA's image
processing and agricultural intelligence products by scene as well as multiple
scene mosaics and composites.
- Full shopping cart functionality with
ability to order multiple products simultaneously, update cart contents, review
orders and submit for approval.
- Shopping cart includes visualization
tools to review entire order for accuracy.
- Real time order status and approval
process.
- Analytics for tracking approval
status, order status and overall subscription usage.

Digital Globe
WorldView-2
is the first 8-band multispectral satellite commercially available.
Operating at an altitude of 770 kilometers, WorldView-2 will provide
half-meter panchromatic resolution and 1.8 meter multispectral
resolution. WorldView-2 will have an average revisit time of 1 day and
will be capable of collecting up to 975,000 square kilometers (376,000
square miles) per day, doubling the DigitalGlobe collection capacity.
The WorldView-2 system, offering unsurpassed accuracy, agility,
capacity and spectral diversity, will allow DigitalGlobe to
substantially expand its imagery product offerings to both commercial
and international customers. To view PowerPoint, click here. |

DataDoors™ is a flexible framework
that integrates distributed geographic data management - discovery,
acquisition, processing, analysis & modeling, delivery.
DataDoors™ seamlessly provides
decision makers and analysts (not necessarily geospatial experts) with
the geographic data and derivative information they require accomplish
their missions. It typically takes less than 2 minutes for a user to discover
and initiate acquisition of the data they need.
Russ Cowart will present a complete overview of the DataDoors™ Service during the Satellite Imagery Archive WebEx on January 5, 2010.

DMC International Imaging
DMCii coordinates the DMC Consortium for commercial
imagery supply from the constellation, and supplies value-added services. DMCii
also represents the DMC Consortium in the International Charter for Space and
Major Disasters. DMCii has extensive experience of managing large data
acquisition campaigns aimed at facilitating access to high resolution EO data
over very large areas and within narrow time windows. DMCii
provides imagery for applications where timely, responsive and targeted imagery
acquisitions are required, such as global crop monitoring, precision
agriculture, land cover classification, tropical forest monitoring, disaster
preparedness/response and environmental research.

The USDA acquires more Orthoimagery in the United
States than any Federal Government agency. USDA-Farm Service Agency
(FSA) collects one meter, leaf-on natural color imagery thought-out the
Continental United States in a 2-3 year cycle. USDA-Nature Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS) has substantial experience on Imagery
acquisition in Alaska, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
The USDA-NRCS presentation will focus on acquisition and distribution of
Satellite based Orthoimagery. Additional Information will be presented on
how USDA-NRCS allow with USDA-FSA, USFS and USGS will distribute Satellite
Orthoimagery in Hawaii and the Pacific Basin to meet business requirements
including Imagery for the Nation (IFTN).
The presenter for
USDA-NRCS is Tony Kimmet. Tony Kimmet is an employee of
USDA-NRCS-National Cartography and Geospatial Center (NCGC) in Fort Worth,
Texas. Tony has worked at Center for Remote Sensing at Michigan State
University and USDA-NRCS-NCGC in GIS/Remote Sensing since
1985. Tony started working in NRCS Orthoimagery related
activities since 1995. Tony is a member of several Federal Government
Geospatial coordination groups including the National Digital Orthophoto Program
(NDOP). Currently he is the chair of the Technical Subcommittee to
NDOP. To view PowerPoint, click here.

Q: Is the data free? A: Date is free to participating agencies. Agencies that pay a flat fee on an annual basis have an "all you can eat" access.
Q: How do we get the data? Does it come by FedEx? A: CD or DVD by common carrier (FedEx, DHL, UPS, USPS)
Q: What if I am looking for something that you don't have? A: If you don't find what you are
looking for in the archive and still want to acquire it, then
a funding transfer document needs to be started. The Satellite Imagery Archive will try to help.
Q: What format is the data? A: AWiFS is in an orthorectified,
4 band unstacked GeoTIFF, Lambert Conformal Conic projection. Older
data is 8 bit depth, newer is original bit depth.
