A very happy and prosperous new year to all our readers! Last year is at last behind us and we are already seeing an increase in property interest here in Thailand. Inward investment into Thailand is on the increase and GDP growth is expected to be in the region of 3 to 4.5% in 2011. Inflation has risen to 3% and bank rate to 2.25%. The Thai baht has risen 10% in recent months against the USD. Export growth in 2010 was a healthy 28% in dollar terms. Thailand's overall performance remains strong and the report on the business view regarding the political situation is that it should remain stable this year! The weather in Phuket during December has been unseasonably wet, although always warm however the sun seems to be shining now as is normal at this time of year and an average of 31 degrees C. Tourism is at a record high even after the events of last May in Bangkok and Thailand looks forward to the Chinese lucky new year of the RABBIT (Starts on February 3rd) Our rental division SIAM VILLA RENTALS has been extremely busy for both holiday and long term rentals and the latter enquiries are at a record high with many people wishing to rent long term. Our new video called An Introduction to Phuket is receiving a large number of viewings and hopefully gives those whom do not know the Island a good overview!
