Siam Real Estate Newsletter July 2009 Greetings, We now call this time of year the SUMMER season rather than LOW season which is rather negative and sounds like it is not a good time to visit. Well to the contrary, most of us whom live here prefer this time of year as it is slightly cooler and the sun continues to shine with sporadic showers mainly at night. The hotel occupancy is very low around 20% at present when it is normally 40-50% in the low season. There are as you can imagine some great deals on hotel accommodation and also owners offering long term rentals are prepared to negotiate due to the world recession. The property market is the quietest we have known it even more so than when we had the Tsunami back in 2004. There are some great deals on offer from new developments as some buyers have defaulted and the property is back on the market and the completed projects want closure and are prepared to negotiate. I know we keep saying it but this is the best time to buy as we are at the bottom of the market and smart investors are snapping up these bargains. So don’t leave it too long as delaying a buying decision can cost you the property of your dreams as someone else snaps it up! All foreigners who apply for Tourist Visa at the Royal Thai Embassies and the Royal Thai Consulates-General worldwide will be exempted from tourist visa fee from 25 June 2009 to March B.E.2553 (2010).
