If you want some advice on local conditions in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Krabi, Chiang Mai send us an email at info@siamrealestate.com The government allowing some 200 RED protesters to scupper the ASEAN CONFERENCE in Pattaya by not ordering the police and army to stop them interfering was a major blunder and has caused world embarrassment for Thailand. Last weeks riots in Bangkok were subsequently broken up by the police and army and a state of emergency declared. The truth is Thai politics will probably always be in a state of disagreement as in most democracies where there is an opposition party/ies who agree to disagree. However, ex prime minister Thaksin who is persona non grata in Thailand is funding and stirring up his followers the REDS and trying to bring down the government. It seems he is now destined to fail and besides a warrant out for his arrest, his Thai passport has also been revoked. His incumbent Khun Abhisit < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abhisit_Vejjajiva > prime minister (Eton and Oxford educated) is actually doing a good job with managing the Bangkok and world crisis and must be allowed to continue. Thailand just needs some ongoing stability and the King normally provides a guiding hand. Watching the world financial news this morning (fingers crossed) it seems the world crisis is bottoming out sooner than expected. |
