The Rev. Leroy Cauble Trexler 

 

COLUMBIA- Funeral services for The Rev. Leroy Cauble Trexler, 89, will be held at a time and date to be announced at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Columbia, SC, with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Friends may call the church at 803-772-5419 or Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel at 803-798-5458 to obtain arrangement information. The family will receive friends at Redeemer Lutheran Church following the service.

  

 

Pastor Trexler was born August 9, 1922 in Granite Quarry, NC and passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012. He was a son of the late William Rodell Trexler and Carrie Nancy Cauble Trexler. In 1943 he received his BA at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, NC and 1945 his Master of Divinity, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, SC. Rev. Trexler was married on September 27, 1945 to Mabel Shealy. He served the following parishes: Good Shepherd, Goldsboro, NC, Mt. Hermon, Concord, NC, St. John's, Cherryville, NC, St. Paul's, Sarasota, Fl, St. Paul's, Columbia, SC, St. Stephen's, Lexington, SC, St. John's, Hollywood, FL, Mission Organizer, Good Shepherd, Boca Raton, FL and Wittenberg, Leesville, SC. After his retirement in 1986, he served as interim pastor at Bethphage, Lincolnton, NC and St. Mark's, Cherryville, NC.

    

Rev. Trexler is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Mabel Shealy Trexler; children, Nancy Amundson and her husband, Mel, Lee C. Trexler and his wife, Debbie, and Joel C. Trexler and his wife, Melanie; grandchildren, Mark Amundson, Leah A. Johnson, Michelle T. Cone, Michael Trexler and Paul Trexler; great-grandchildren, Connor and Cayla Cone and Bailey Johnson. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen T. Fesperman and brother, The Rev. Bernard L. Trexler.
