Kershaw 3rd and Harvey 7th in the Overall World Cup Standing
As the world's best cross-country ski athletes close in on the completion of the 2011-12 season, Canada's Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey are in contention for the best-ever Canadian finish on the Overall World Cup standings. Arguably one of the top-three athletes in the sport, Kershaw sits in third place in the Overall medal count behind Switzerland's Dario Cologna and Norway's Petter Northug. Kershaw's World Championship teammate and sport phenom, Harvey, is hungry to improve on his seventh-place standing.
Kershaw finished eighth in 2011, while Harvey was 10th overall on the World Cup.

Coaching Tips and Tools from Canada's Best!
Please join Dr. Sharleen Hoar and Justin Wadsworth on March 23rd, 2012 during the Haywood Ski Nationals at 3:30 PM at Château Mont Sainte-Anne for an afternoon with the experts! With introductions by Cross Country Canada's Women's Committee Co-Chairs, Beckie Scott and Milaine Theriault, the afternoon will be split in two sessions.
The first session will be presented by Dr. Sharleen Hoar, World Cup Cross-Country Ski Team Psychologist. She will discuss and explore tools and techniques for coaches to successfully maximize the physical, emotional and athletic potential of their female athletes. This session will be followed by a Q and A session. 
The second session will be presented by Justin Wadsorth, Head Coach of the National Cross Country Ski Team where basics training philosophies, beliefs and advice for high performance cross country ski racing will be discussed. This session will be followed by interactive Q and A session and an inspirational video.

McMurtry and Marshall Take Top Honours in Haywood NorAm for 2012!
Brent McMurtry and Allyson Marshall wrapped up successful domestic campaigns at the Haywood NorAm's in Eastern Canada in early February.
The battle for the FIS Regional Series Champion will be decided at the Haywood Ski Nationals starting on March 17 in Quebec City.

Join fellow cross country ski officials from across Canada for this exciting opportunity to learn from a variety of our sport's top officials, to share event managemen t experiences and to network with other club, division and national officials. Offered in conjunction with the 2012 Haywood Ski Nationals at Mont Ste-Anne and Quebec City, it represents an ideal opportunity to review a number of interesting event formats under the direction of an experienced Organizing Committee.

Canada's Para-Nordic Athletes at the IPC World Cup in the USA
Canadian Para-Nordic athletes recently descended upon the IPC World Cup in Cable Wisconsin and Minneapolis Minnesota Jan 23rd to Feb 3rd, 2012. With 6 events over 8 days at two separate venues it was a packed schedule for the Canadian contingent.
Para-Nordic National Ski Team (PNST) members Mark Arendz, Colette Bourgonje and Chris Klebl were joined in the USA by eight development skiers from across the country.

OFSAA 2012 Nordic Championships
The Ontario High School championships is the largest youth ski competition in Canada and featured over 600 skiers and races through downtown Huntsville!

Red Deer Schools Ski Loppet Attracts 463 Competitors
463 students in Red Deer took to the trails at River Bend Golf and Recreation area Feb. 14, 2012 for the 27th Annual Red Deer School Loppet.

2012 Masters National Championships
Don't miss the 2012 Masters National Championships in beautiful Golden, BC, March 11-17. The races will take place at Dawn Mountain Nordic Center, adjacent Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

Did You Know.....
- Since AltaGas joined Cross Country Canada four years ago, our athletes have delivered 22 World Cup and World Championship medals, 24 Para-Nordic and IPC World Championship medals, our first-ever World Championship title and record-breaking results across the board at the 2010 Games in Whistler.
- A Parasport Festival was held at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, February 25-26 introducing Canadians to parasports.
- The Open Sprint and Team Sprint competitions at the 2012 Haywood Ski Nationals in Quebec City will be held on the same course that will host the 2012 Quebec Sprint World Cup in December.
- Team Sprints and Open Sprints will be on the Plaines of Abraham in Quebec City
- Only part of the same course will be used at the Ski Nationals as the WC course will include Grande Allée.
