Greetings!,

I just finished reading "Radical" by David Platt. It just so happened (yea, right! ) that this book was put in my hands at just the right time to accomplish the right purpose. And what was this purpose? To spur me on to death! Death of my own desires. Death of my selfish preoccupations. Death of my flesh, even literally if necessary, all for the glory of The One who deserves all the glory!

We serve such an amazing, incomprehensible God, but often we question His motives. Or maybe I should say I question His motives. "Why did you allow this? What about what I want? Don't you care about me?" and many other questions often crop up in my mind when I am faced with difficult circumstances. Maybe you experience the same thing. I tend to forget this:

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone, when he is fully trained, will be like his teacher.
                                                           Luke 6:40 ESV

So what does this mean for us? Jesus told His disciples what to expect; To be hated, spit on, beaten, thrown in prison, totally misunderstood...just like Him. His disciples would have to live a sacrificial life, just like their teacher, taking up their cross daily to follow Him. Surely Jesus was not insinuating that these things would happen to us!!! Could it be that He would expect us to endure such hardships? Would He really expect us to sacrifice our creature comforts? Well, not everyone...only His true disciples! Are we really called to such radical things? If we choose to take the Bible at face value, it is clear. If we choose to make Biblical applications only as we are comfortable with them, then we can remain comfortable, at least during this life.

I am truly glad for the wake-up call that this book provided. Time is precious, and I waste too much of it! It is really true that people are dying and entering into an eternity without God because I didn't see the necessity of sharing Truth with them. The statistics are staggering. Every day, 26,000 precious children die of preventable disease. Most of their families don't know Jesus and have no hope of seeing their babies again. "What can I do about that?" we say. Give sacrificially to a ministry that is helping. Adopt a baby from a 3rd world country. Go on a mission trip to share Jesus with those that don't know Him. We must ALL do something! This is God's plan...that we ALL do our part so that His Kingdom comes to this place we currently call home.

What a blessing it is to partner with the Most High to accomplish His redemption of mankind. Recently, I was very blessed to share
Patronela and Alexandra
the Good News with Patronela, the adult orphan woman who is staying with me, and see her come to an understanding of her need for a Savior. She is learning to be a disciple now! Praise the Lord! Another answered prayer is that she has decided that it would be best to allow her baby to be adopted. Please pray with us for an adoptive family that will love Alexandra and teach her to follow Jesus.

"There will continue to be millions and millions of people who do not hear about Jesus as long as we continue to use spare time and spare money to reach them."
quote from "Radical" by David Platt

Jesus commanded us to prayer for laborers to go into the harvest. Let's obey the command to pray and the command to go.

Humbled by His patience,

Stephanie
