Greetings!,
How do you help someone succeed? This seems to be the job we have been given with our young adult orphan friends. Last month three young adults moved to Sibiu in hopes of starting a new life. This makes a total of four that we have moved to Sibiu in hopes of mentoring and helping to succeed in life. There have already been a lot of ups and downs.
* Dana and Emil got jobs * Housing found for all three * Emil dissatisfied with his housing, decides to move * Magda gets a job * Magda loses her job when she is late on second day * Emil quits one job and finds another * Magda discovers she is pregnant * Emil required to leave where he is renting * Emil takes most of Dana's money * Patronela's abusive boyfriend moves to Sibiu * Girls need to move because landlord is dissatisfied * Magda gets another job * Dana is cheated on her salary and loses her job * Dana and Magda move to a new apartment * Emil remains homeless and refuses our counsel * Magda is fired when they hear she is pregnant
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but often we have found ourselves exhausted! In six short weeks, the task for which we volunteered has led us on a roller coaster of emotions. But already, the track has led us to the desired destination; the cross. The hopelessness, worry, and frustration have led to an intense awareness of our inability to make lasting changes in anyone's life and our need for God's intervention in our own lives and the lives of those He has called us to work with.
We have discovered that we are in over our heads, but that's not so bad. It will take a miracle for these young people to have anything that looks like a successful life. So this is what we are waiting to see; a miracle! And through this miracle, Jesus will be glorified!
Please take a few minutes to meet Dana through this short video. And please continue to pray that God will do such amazing things in the lives of these young people that everyone will know it was Him.
Going for Him,
Leslie and Stephanie
