First Day of School
Bryan's First Day of Kindergarten
Greetings!

This is not a good picture. It's my son Bryan's first day of Kindergarten, the very first day of "real" school for the rest of his life, and this picture is more smirk than smile. What a horrible Mom, I thought, not snapping a better picture of this quintessential moment!

But then I realized that I had written about his feelings regarding that day in my journal I keep about each of my boys (he was feeling, "embarrassed," for the record), and that I'd made at least one quick video too.

In today's article, I'm focusing on the need to release the guilt we have about not doing enough to capture our family memories, and some easy solutions. (I even share a home-made video, so you can see that mine are far from perfect.) Even today's featured video is about a book that makes recording your child's milestones easy.

I hope these ideas will make your life just a little less stressful, and give you some memories you can look back on and smile - or smirk.

Warmly,

  Debbie

Capturing Memories Can Be Effortless

I love the concept of Connie Krupin's new book, "A Time to Be Born: A Jewish Baby Journal." She made a baby book that is so much more than that. It's a reference guide, it's a coffee table book, it's something so beautiful that you'll have it out in the living room, not away in a closet. And so when you need to remember how to say that extra blessing for the Hannukah candles, you'll look it up in the book, and in the process, jot down a memory. She shares this genius idea that makes preserving memories almost effortless in this new video we created together.

Raving Fan

One of the best business decisions I made was hiring DMB Pictures to create a video for my book.  Debbie really listened to me and used her extraordinary skill to translate what I wanted to express into a selling tool that reaches people in a way that websites alone can't do.

Now my customers can see the heart & soul behind the work. That's powerful!

Lose the Guilt and Start Recording

I recently gave a talk to a group of women about recording family history, but the conversation quickly turned to the guilt we all felt about not recording our children's lives enough. Did they stop being cute or something? How could we lose the guilt and start recording more? Read more...
