Greetings!

At some point in my elementary school career, I remember being fascinated by the book, "A Honey of A Chimp," by Norma Klein. In the book, Manhattan schoolgirl Emily gets to adopt a pet monkey she names Olivia. I thought it was the coolest pet a girl could ever have and spent many hours dreaming what it would be like to have my own "Olivia."

I doubt I even bothered to ask my parents if we too could get a pet monkey. What parent would allow that?

In today's humorous video, you'll meet a Mom who did just that.

Another idea that I've recently been monkeying around with (and that is no laughing matter) is how to help people who are diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to share some surprising benefits of life review and "recording therapy" in today's article.  I'm hoping it might help some people that you know too.

Though I don't have any plans to give my boys a pet monkey for their birthday, one gift we recently gave them was the gift of travel. Wishing you a very happy spring!

Warmly,

Inspiring Mom

But how many of you would have let your kids have a pet monkey? Helen is my new hero and I think you'll enjoy watching this story about her beloved Squeak!

Autobiography as Therapy

Lately, it seems everywhere I turn, I'm hearing about yet another person that's been diagnosed with cancer. Beyond upsetting, I feel powerless. I am not a world-renowned scientist who can find a cure and I don't have the big pockets to donate to those organizations already searching for one. Why is why I'm glad I figured one thing out...
