THE RESULTS ARE IN...
NUTS & BOLTS IS A HIT !!! Second Quarter Ratings Are Off The Hook.
When The Nuts & Bolts of Fishing and Boating launched its television debut in January 2009, the objective was to produce a series of television programs that provided real-world, practical information boaters and anglers could benefit from the next time they went on the water. The first season covered topics from fishing tactics to boat maintenance tips to safety. We introduced you to some outstanding fishing destinations and the people that can show you how to catch a variety of species. And, we kicked off the first Getaway Giveaway.
In the first quarter of 2009, Nuts & Bolts captured an unbelievable television audience throughout the Southeastern United States and it continued to grow each week.
In the second quarter, Nuts & Bolts ratings went through the roof... delivering an astounding 97,000 actual viewers every Sunday morning. When you factor in the Thursday airing and viewings on MyOutdoorTV.com and the Nuts & Bolts Live Internet Channel... our program is reaching over 500,000 people per month. That's quite an accomplishment! And it is 100% attributable to you folks out there who have so generously invited Capt. Cefus, our guest hosts, and Buck The Wonder Dog into your homes for 30 minutes.
Are we excited? You bet! And we promise to keep creating programs that bring you the kind of information and locales you want to see. But it's a two-way street. Drop us an email and tell us what you want to see more of, or let us know about some great fishing/boating opportunities and destinations and we'll get them on the schedule.
In the meantime, with so much to celebrate, we ought to have a big party. Anyone know where we can have a pig roast for 100,000 people? That's a whole bunch of BBQ.
Seriously, from all of us at Nuts & Bolts, let me extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for everyone's support these past eight months. Our goal is to continue to bring you programs that you enjoy.
See you on the water! |

USE A CANNONBALL TO CATCH SPADEFISH
It's a calm day offshore of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The seas are almost flat. In the distance, short fins break the surface inviting further investigation. As you get closer, a group of fish come to greet you. Then you realize it's a swarm of spadefish rising up from the depths to enjoy the shade of your boat hull. The deck gets busy as you cast live bait, cut bait, jigs and just about everything else in the tackle box, but get no bites. Spadefish are finicky eaters and like trout sipping mayflies, they can be extremely selective. For many anglers this is the epitome of frustration. But if you've done your homework, you picked up the right kind of bait on the way offshore. What's the bait of choice for these hard-fighting, excellent-eating piscatorial prizes? Well, it's probably one of the most unusual baits you'll ever use, but they're easy to catch. All you need is a dip net.
This Sunday, join Capt. Cefus McRae and Capt. Dan Utley, aka, The Fishin' Coach and learn the tackle, the tactics and the special bait you'll need to put some tasty filets on the table.
Experience life in the Low Country this Sunday morning at 7:15EDT on Fox Sports Net-South in the Southern Outdoors program block and again next Thursday at noon.
And you can always get hooked up on the internet with any of the Nuts & Bolts episodes at our Live Internet TV Channel or at MyOutdoorTV.com |
More Toys For Boaters & Anglers
There was so much to see at ICAST this year, that it's nearly impossible to get to every booth in just 2 and a half days. But there were a few neat toys that stood out and last week's issue had several of them in there.
Here's a few more to check out... plus one correction. The previous link to BTS Products was not right, so this issue has the corrected link. It's good stuff, you ought to give it a try.
Click on the images to watch the video clips. Click on the names to visit their websites.
Boaters continually search for a way to make cleaning their boats, and keeping their boats clean... easier. There probably isn't a magic potion that will do everything, but BTS Protectant comes pretty darn close. BTS stands for Bow To Stern and it works on everything boating related. A wipe on/wipe off liquid that is easy to apply, and protects just about everything on your boat from the nasty stuff that harsh marine environments tend to create. Mold, mildew and algae stains don't have a chance. It keeps vinyl seats, motor cowlings, stainless, fiberglass gel coat, even fabrics and interior spaces in great condition.
When you can't get live bait, GULP! Alive is the next best thing, and Berkley introduces several new types of baits this year for both freshwater and saltwater. These baits come packaged in tubs and canisters so they can be recharged and used again.
Accurate Reels - Boss Extreme Series ReelsAccurate Reels offers high quality reels built to handle offshore gamefish. The Boss Extreme series is built on a very small frame but delivers 30 pounds of drag and their exclusive Twin Drag system provides extremely smooth drag throughout the entire range. |
