Dear Reader,

You know that old saying: if you keep doing what you've always done, you'll get the same results you always got?

Since Scott Eblin's book,  The Next Level: What Insiders Know About Executive Success, came out, I have singlehandedly purchased and passed out dozens of copies.  Scott has put his finger on what you need to change in order to succeed at the next level.  Whether you are feeling stuck in your career or struggling to grasp what you need to do in a new job, his perspective and practical advice will give you a clear path to success.

So if you want to know what to change in order to get different results and operate at "the next level," please tune in with me on Monday, August 13th on Visionary Leader, Extraordinary Life.  Scott Eblin will share his latest research and his Life GPSŪ planning tool.  His work is all about picking up your head to see and understand your opportunities in a whole new way.

Have a nice weekend!

Very best,

Take Your Career to the Next Level
with Leadership Coach and Author Scott Eblin

Listen on Monday.

Drawing on the research behind his best-selling book, The Next Level, top executive coach Scott Eblin has uncovered the behaviors that leaders need to pick up and let go of in order to succeed when expectations change.   When different results are expected, you need to adapt quickly to lead at the next level.  The challenge for leaders today is how to meet high expectations while still having a life. In this episode of Visionary Leader, Extraordinary Life, Kate and Scott will discuss how he uses his Life GPSŪ planning tool to help leaders establish an operating rhythm that meets their expectations not just at work but at home and in the community as well.
A member of the Georgetown leadership coaching faculty, Scott brings deep and extensive expertise to bear on how to develop the intentions and routines that can take your career and life to the next level.  Join Kate and Scott for a conversation that could be a game changer for you.

Is Your Mindset Holding You Back?

Dr. Carol Dweck set out to study success and achievement and found herself observing failure instead.  As a young researcher, she was obsessed by the desire to understand how people cope with failure.  She began by studying the behavior of children who were given the task of solving hard puzzles. She expected to see differences, but what she saw startled her:  some kids relished the tough challenges.  They seemed to love failure!

This early work opened her eyes to two radically different mindsets:  the fixed mindset and the growth mindset.  And over the ensuing decades, Carol has done groundbreaking research at Stanford University to uncover why it's not just our abilities and talent that bring us success, but whether we approach our goals with a fixed or growth mindset.

To learn more about Dr. Carol Dweck and her findings, listen to her episode or visit her website.  We highly recommend her book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.

The Growth Mindset

"The growth mindset lets people - even those who are targets of negative labels - use and develop their minds fully. Their heads are not filled with limiting thoughts, a fragile sense of belonging, and a belief that other people can define them."
