Visionary Leader Header
Dear Reader,

I am honored to feature Wendy Philleo, Executive Director of The Center for a New American Dream, on "Visionary Leader, Extraordinary Life." Years ago, when I was struggling with "how much is enough?" for my own family at Christmas time, I discovered The Center for a New American Dream. Their mission, to tell a new American story that showcases new pathways and positive visions that promote a more socially and ecologically balanced society, has inspired me to rethink my own approach to the holidays -- and to life. At a time when media stories feature people who have been affected by the recession and we're still reeling from the astonishing prosperity of the late 90's and the dramatic swing in the opposite direction to the present day, Wendy's vision offers a fresh take on the American Dream.

I hope you'll join me for a show that promises an American Dream you can put faith in -- and a perspective that will anchor you as you sail into the holiday season.

with Wendy Philleo

Listen Live on Monday.

Executive Director,
The Center for a New American Dream

In these challenging times, many Americans have lost faith in the American Dream - a promise that includes "a chicken in every pot," financial success for those who work hard and pursue higher education, and prosperity that increases unfailingly generation after generation. Wendy Philleo, Executive Director of The Center for a New American Dream, will help us look at what has become of the old American Dream. Wendy offers a powerful new vision that showcases new pathways that promote a more socially and ecologically balanced society. She invites us to examine how we define success as a society. In the spirit of the season, Wendy will also share a refreshingly non-commercial vision for the holidays that puts the meaning and cheer back into December. Suzanne Scurlock Durana:  Three Things to Remember About Full Body Presence

When we become full present in our bodies, we are better people. We make better decisions for ourselves, our families, our organizations, our communities, and our planet. Earlier this week, Suzanne Scurlock-Durana shared these three points about being present in our bodies.

  1. The body is the physical container/resource in which each of us live and inhabit every day. Many of us take our bodies for granted, forgetting it is a significant tool that we have at our disposal as we approach every challenge in our day. Just as you must maintain your mind and spirit as a leader, you must also maintain your body.
  2. The body has something to teach us. We can learn from our bodies by tuning into the sensations we are feeling right now -- and understanding that different parts of our bodies are delivering different messages.
  3. Listen to your body. When you hear or recognize the sensations of the body, listen. If you are a steward of your body and its resources, you will be at your best.

On thriving in our bodies...

"It behooves us as human beings to create a team: mind, body and spirit. The body piece of the team is huge for feeding the mind and the spirit and for offering us incredible input about what is going on in our environment, what is going on internally and externally, and how to thrive.  Not only how to survive, but to really thrive "
