Skydiver Attempts to Break Record; Fundraises for SAVE
By Bill Farmer

Cory HannaSkydiver Cory Hanna will attempt a hair-raising fundraiser on July 18 that he bills as "100 Jumps for Life." His quest ostensibly will be to set a Minnesota record of 100 consecutive parachute jumps in one day, but he said his main purpose is to raise awareness, as well as funds, for SAVE. If successful, he will soundly eclipse the former record of 60 jumps in a day set by Tom DeCorsey two years ago on DeCorsey's 60th birthday.

By Pamela Irrgang
 ASWECRASH
ASWECRASH has a mission. Their hope is to raise suicide awareness and prevention among their audience; but they aren't going about this in a quiet fashion. ASWECRASH is a heavy metal/screamo band based out of Toledo, Ohio that knows firsthand the impact a suicide attempt can leave. By performing their music, talking about suicide prevention and, offering SAVE materials to their fans both on myspace and in concert, ASWECRASH is becoming an outlet for those who are struggling with thoughts of suicide.
Interns Support SAVE Initiatives
By John De Haven

Earlier this year, I called a local high school and the phone was answered by a bright and cheerful young lady who greeted me saying, "Good morning, this is So-and-so High School.  Student intern speaking.  May I help you?" Then, in late May, my grandson who will be 3 in July "volunteered" to help his Dad put in a backyard vegetable garden, an assist that may have prolonged the process by half an hour or so but proved to be a great bonding and learning experience.

As Vice President, Marketing for the Minnesota Twins, he is not only responsible for promotions, special events, community affairs and broadcasting for a team in contention for another division title, but he is also immersed in the opening of the club's new stadium, Target Field, in 2010. In spite of this hectic schedule, he continues to passionately support a cause that is meaningful to him, suicide prevention,  serving as a member on SAVE's Board of Directors.
