Greetings!
Happy New Year! If you haven't made your new year's resolution, consider this one: In 2011, I will resolve to increase my DECA chapter's membership by 10 percent! The start of the year is the perfect time to double-check to make sure all of your students are on a paid DECA roster, especially as we are in the midst of competition season. Challenge each current DECA member to recruit at least one more member - whether it's a classmate, business professional or alum - and watch your membership double.
With so much excitement about the new DECA, we want to make sure this is our best year for you and our members. Enter your members at http://www.decaregistration.com/hs/.
Best wishes for a prosperous 2011!

Competitive Events Rule Change Clarification
The Board of Directors approved a new rule for competitive events which reads "Materials appropriate to the situations may be handed to or left with judges in all competitive events." DECA has received questions regarding the intent of this rule change and would like to provide some general guidelines to assist students and advisors preparing for competition. General Guidelines: Items of monetary value can be handed to but cannot be left with judges. Items such as flyers, brochures, pamphlets and business cards may be handed to or left with the judge. Food items may not be handed to nor left with judges.
For participants in the Principles of Business Administration Events, Team Decision Making Events and Individual Series Events, the materials handed to the judge must be created using the materials provided during the designated preparation period. |

"Competition University is a valuable resource for any desiring DECA student. This website gives me all the tools needed to excel on both the tests and the role-plays. The easy to understand material lays out all I need to be able to prepare for and feel confident about the upcoming competitions. Overall, Competition University has done a great job in preparing me for the challenges ahead."
