Letter to California Gambling Control Commission
9/12/2008, From Colorado River Residents For Justice
It appears that State money is inappropriately being diverted to an Indian tribe whose eligibility to recieve those funs is without a doubt questionable. This appears to constitute an improper diversion of State money in violation of the California State Constitution (A gift of Public Funds-Article 16 section 6) from the RSTF.

Colorado River Residents for Justice - op-ed 9/10/2008, Parker Pioneer
In what has to be the most misleading press release by the Manataba Messenger, ever disseminated,CRIT has asserted that the Department of Justice has confirmed the Reservation's western boundary. The DOJ letter does not, as Daniel Eddy states. The Supreme Court is the ultimate interpreter of Federal law, and the high Court has determined that this land is not in the CRIT Reservation.

Note from Stand Up For California: This boundary dispute potentially affects Southern California Counties recieving water from the Colorado River.  Currently, CRIT an Arizona Tribe, has water rights on the East Bank of the River. Declaring reservation status of land on the West Bank provides an opportunity to a claim of water rights on the California side, thus affecting the future water supply of Los Angeles, San Diego and other Southern Counties.

More Troubles For Soboba Indian Reservation9/15/2008, KPSP Channel 2
Riverside County Sheriff's deputies are continuing their hunt for two Soboba tribal members. Deputies believe the two men committed an armed home invasion robbery in San Jacinto. The incident comes at a time when relations are strained between the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians. The Sheriff's department and the tribe have been involved in a dispute over open access to the Reservation since three tribal members were killed in gun-battles with deputies in May.

Lawyer, Cache Creek Casino tribe declare peace in legal war9/16/2008, Sacramento Bee
A bitter lawsuit between the tribe that owns the Cache Creek Casino Resort and their longtime attorney has been settled out of court, lawyers said Monday. In the past year, the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians and noted tribal lawyer Howard Dickstein have fought a very public war of words. The tribe publicized its dramatic lawsuit in October. Dickstein denied claims of wrongdoing and revealed aspects of the tribe's vast wealth. The terms of the settlement are being kept confidential, however, and neither side had much to say Monday.

The Uniform Crime Report - 2007 September 15, 2007, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program was conceived in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to meet a need for reliable, uniform crime statistics for the nation. In 1930, the FBI was tasked with collecting, publishing, and archiving those statistics. Today, several annual statistical publications, such as the comprehensive Crime in the United States, are produced from data provided by nearly 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States. Indian power and gambling 9/15/2008, Los Angeles Times
When charities went up against casino-owning Indian tribes in Sacramento recently, they got schooled in who wields the real political power. The outcome raises serious questions about whether Californians meant to forever guarantee tribes that there would be no meaningful competition to their gambling operations. A bill by Sen. Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) to allow nonprofit fundraisers to install electronic bingo machines was dropped right after tribes went to work against it, protesting that it would violate a pact with the state giving them the sole right to slot machines. Then, in the waning days of the legislative session, Sen. Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) gutted a bill on school lunches and amended it to specifically forbid anyone besides the tribes from owning gambling machines.
