Pleasant Hill bingo parlor running free of the law
6/18/2008, Contra Costa Times
PLEASANT HILL - Behind the storefront windows in a plain suburban shopping center, Gregory Brennan runs a cool, tidy bingo parlor. Dozens of colorful touch-screens draw patrons to play "Bingo Blast." A banner above the counter reads "A Professional Theatre Company." It's a nice little operation. Nice and illegitimate, the Times found. Under state law, this is supposed to be charity bingo. But just what Brennan does with the profits from Network Bingo is anyone's guess. "That's neither here nor there," he said in an interview this week.

Editorial: B-I-N-G-O spells 'mess'6/7/2008, Sacramento Bee In the first three months of 2008, charity bingo operators in Sacramento County say they took in a combined $1.5 million for local charities. The money was used to fund school band programs and sports activities, among other things. About 80 percent of that revenue comes from electronic bingo or e-bingo as it is often called.
