We are looking for volunteers to fill some exciting appointed positions on the DCDT Board including:

* Youth with a Disability Representative

* Vocational Evaluation/Transition Assessment Representative

Youth with a Disability Representative - This Board Member provides perspectives of young adults with disabilities transitioning into careers and communities and support DCDT to be responsive to the needs of individuals with disabilities in transition. These efforts can include recruiting youth with disabilities as members of DCDT, disseminating information about students with disabilities, and organizing conference events and/or sessions that meet the needs of youth with disabilities. Must be from an IDEA Partnership state.

 

Parent Representative - a parent of a child with a disability who can represent DCDT in appropriate state, regional and national forums. He/she will organize efforts to increase the role of parents in the transition planning process and to enhance the skills of special educators in partnering with parents and families. These efforts can include disseminating information through DCDT publications, recruiting parent and family members, and/or organizing conference strands that target these goals.

Vocational Evaluation/Transition Assessment Representative - This person serves as the DCDT liaison between other relevant groups with the same interests and DCDT and represents DCDT in appropriate transition and career assessment forums. They also participates and represent DCDT in the National Community of Practice on Transition Career Assessment Practice Group as well as at the Vocational Evaluation and Career Assessment Professionals (VECAP forums and meetings).
