SPECIAL INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN ROUNDTABLE NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON TRANSPORTATION NEEDS IN YOUTH TRANSITION AT THE DCDT CONFERENCE
DCDT is proud to announce a partnership with Easter Seals Project Action. 

Enhancing Youth Mobility: A Partnership Between the Division of Career Development and Transition and Easter Seals Project ACTION (Accessible Transportation in our Nation)

Experts Needed to Participate in Roundtable on Youth Transition Transportation on Wednesday, 10-28-09 from 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Hotel Scholarships Available for Invited Participants!!

On Wednesday, 10-28-09, in Savannah, GA, please join a group of peers in an invitation only roundtable on youth transition and transportation to identify barriers and solutions to address this critical need. This roundtable is being held by Easter Seals Project ACTION in partnership with the CEC DCDT conference.  The roundtable will begin with a reception featuring artwork created by students with disabilities led by VSA Arts' artists that highlight what accessible transportation means to them.  Attendees will participate in the development of an action plan to address barriers and find solutions that expand youth transition transportation.

If needed, we can defray costs for participants for up to two nights of lodging (Tuesday and Wednesday evening). We can accommodate up to 50 people and, in some cases, we may be able to provide full travel scholarships that would include airfare. 
We are looking for participants from the following areas:

·    Special education teachers/administrators
·    Mobility managers who work with youth with disabilities
·    Orienting and mobility specialists
·    Travel trainers
·    Parents of students with disabilities
·    Students with disabilities
·    School transit managers
·    Career transition leaders
·    Community college professors involved in youth transition
·    Researchers involved in youth transition systems change.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU: A Panel on Youth Transition Transportation Initiatives and Listening Session on Using Online Technologies for Federal Initiatives Engagement
Please join Judy Shanley, PhD from the US Department of Education and Mary Leary, PhD from Easter Seals Project ACTION from 11 am till 12pm on Saturday, October 31, 2009 for a panel discussion on youth transition, transportation and mobility initiatives. During the one-hour session, participants will hear about promising approaches to expanding accessible transportation for youth transition and will participate in a special listening session on the implementation of a Federal national dialogue capability using social networking tools. All participants will be given an anonymous survey and have the opportunity to join the discussion on the use of social networking to expand outreach and civic engagement to further accessible transportation efforts around the nation. Please pre-register for the event so we can be sure we have the right amount of materials and information for all attendees. We will hold a drawing at the event for a special $ 1,000 scholarship to further youth transition through transportation. Attendees will learn about current social networking efforts at the national level, transportation resources and become eligible to participate in the drawing for the scholarship. Making Summary of Performance Meaningful & Managable

Join Audrey Trainor, Gary Clark, and James Patton at a preconference workshop on The Summary of Performance System (SOPS), a software program designed to help educators, families, and young adults develop summaries of performance. A  copy of the SOPS program will be provided to each registered participant at no additional cost.
