PhD Progress
It seems that my Professor's strategy is to weed out the men from the boys by burying students under a mountain of reading. Fortunately PhD students receive a perk--the coveted "Doctoral Carrel." This is really nothing but a desk in the library, but it does have a light, which is good for ... you guessed it ... reading. Just last week I installed myself in my Doctoral Carrel to attack large portions of the Pseudepigrapha. I began with a straight back and my feet flat on the floor, turned on the light, and commenced with the book of 1 Enoch. I was making great headway, really flying through the ... hold on, let me get more comfortable. Flying through the pages as I ... just let me slouch down a bit here ... that's better. Ok, where was I? Yes, I was really getting into this form of apocalyptic literary ... um ... literati ... literature, where the angel receives the ... message ... about ... the ... um thing thas wort been communicaaa .........
Huh? Glug. Bluugg! Someone must have drugged me. Honest! The library is the perfect place to read because it is quiet. We need freedom from the distractions of people talking, or the smell of coffee, or people laughing, or having fun, or drinking coffee. Its best to read in an environment that is peaceful ... and restful ... and has no distrac schnors ........ nothin ... but peas and coff ......... Huh? What happened and why is this puddle on my desk? What time is it? Is it time to ... perhaps ... maybe I should adjourn to the coffee shop!

Translation Progress
Fortunately I have another responsibility that needs my attention--overseeing the Japanese version of New Evidence that Demands a Verdict for the Josh McDowell Ministry. This week I received an email that the translation is finished with Volume 2 of this book. The translator sent me a bunch of questions he has about the text, which I have to research. Then the text goes to a Japanese editor before we can publish the book. Please keep praying for this project. It has taken a long time, but I believe it will be very important for Japanese believers.

Family Progress
You can see how excited our kids were to start school again! And they have less reading than I do!
