Hi!
Thank you for praying

As you know we are not returning to Singapore, instead we're pursuing PhD studies here in the US. The leadership at EAST has been nothing but positive to us in this new endeavor. Recently I received this email from the Director of EAST and his wife.

"We are delighted and cheer you on as you continue to prepare yourself for a future teaching ministry. I just want to say 'thank you' for what you and Brigitte did to have enriched the lives of many at EAST in the last two years, and for the many sacrifices you made to serve God's people."

It reminded me that we do not stop to say 'thank you' enough. These thanks are due to you as well. Because of your sacrifice of prayer and giving we were able to "enrich the lives of many" in Asia.

Also ... we have a car now. It took a lot of searching, but we found an older vehicle in great shape through Craigslist. Thank you for praying.
Good News on PhD Study

After a long and serious consideration of my extensive qualifications Dallas Seminary has accepted me for PhD studies. Actually it was provisional acceptance ... pending the completion of my thesis. I thought the thesis would just be a formality. But I met with my advisor yesterday, and he told me an "average" thesis would not be accepted! It needs to be "superior". Gulp!

Many people have asked what my thesis is about. I'm writing about Jael--the woman in Judges 4 who murders a man with a tent peg. Yet in the next chapter she is praised for this action! Many people use stories like this to attack the truthfulness of the Bible, or deny the goodness of God. So, I am writing to defend a "normal" reading of this Scripture. I believe this episode does show that God is good, and that the Scriptures can be trusted. I look forward to sharing more with you ... when I learn more.

Lee EefooEe Foo was in my mentoring group at EAST, and last year he was the student body president. Now that the second quarter has begun, he is struggling to get back into the swing of his studies. Ee Foo is Singaporean and served at a local church before attending EAST. In fact he and his wife, Hui Ming, still lead a small group in their church. Check out Ee Foo's facebook page here: leeeefoo.
Thank you!
