A Lot Has Happened ...
... since we last wrote. Our furlough from sea to shining sea is over. We visited countless homes in 16 different cities, and spoke in 8 small groups and in 6 churches. We took 7 flights and visited 4 states, sleeping in 17 different beds! However, we loved our time with you and were very encouraged and blessed by our time together. Once again, thanks for your gracious gifts and hospitality to us.
Our kids have started back at school. Addie loves being part of the band program at her high school. Diego says his teacher is very ... strict! He doesn't think that's a good idea--but we do!
Urgent Prayer Request: We cannot believe we have been looking for a car for a month already, with no success! It must be our high standards: revolving wheels and see-through windows!

Back to Study?
Thank you for continuing to pray with us as we seek God clear direction on our lives and future ministry. Since the needed support to return to Singapore has not come in, we've been looking at another option. Our Director at the East Asia School of Theology challenged me to consider getting a PhD. I had missed the deadline for application but Dallas Theological Seminary worked with me, and the first part of my PhD application is now in--and approved!
I'll know if I'm fully accepted by the end of this year. But, before I start the coursework in January I need to write a "thesis" (different from the "dissertation" I'll write later on). The handbook suggests taking a month to research the thesis topic. I had just two days! I was stressed out, but praise God, my topic was approved. So, my full-time job now is writing a thesis and preparing for the entrance exams--both written and oral. We are still considered full time faculty with East Asia School of Theology on study leave.

Facebook Friend of the Month!
Yes, it's been a whole year of Grocery Items, and its time for a new series! Why not take a moment right now relive your favorite moments from the "Grocery Item of the Month" series? (Or the "Fruit" series too!)
This next series will feature some of the students we miss from Singapore (with their permission, of course). We want you to get to know them, and pray for them. This month is Charles Bessie from East Timor. I mentioned him in a previous Newsletter, but lately one of his daughters is feeling really homesick. Check out his facebook profile by clicking his picture. |
