Hi!

The life of a missionary is full of drama. Yes, every month we scramble around to find ... which one of the many exciting stories we can fit into the Newsletter. You know, it's so hard when there are so many ... thrilling, and well ... exhilarating happenings. So, strap on your seat belts ...
Olson News!

The kids are ... well ... they're in school of course. Addie is learning Algebra, and Diego is learning ... long division. Oh I almost forgot ... this week Diego's class had an Easter party! Each of the four major religions is given two holidays per year in Singapore. So, as Christians we get Easter and Christmas. The Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindu also get two holidays per year. Interesting, right?

My class on Judges and Ruth is going great. My lectures are ... interesting ... very interesting actually. No one falls asleep ... well, almost no one. And I bring coffee for that guy, so I don't think we'll have any more problems.

Student News!

OK, there may not be a lot of drama, but what keeps me motivated is changing the lives of our students. One of my favorite Professors at Dallas Seminary, Dr Dwight Pentecost says it this way, "Every Sunday I'm preaching in most of the countries around the world ... through our graduates."

One of my new students is from China. I'll call her "Sally" (not her real name). She is incredibly gifted, has served with some Christian ministries already, and worked as a translator during the Beijing Olympics. She is one of my brightest students and will have a powerful ministry when she returns home to China. Sally wrote this when she applied to EAST:

"I thank God that I am Chinese, thus giving me a good opportunity to evangelize the huge population. As the Bible says, the harvest is ripe but the labourers are few, this is so very true in China and it breaks my heart. There is so much I can do being a Spirit-filled Chinese if I was more fully equipped so I can be used mightily to reap the harvest. I thank you so much for providing me this opportunity to be trained and equipped for God's Kingdom at East Asia School of Theology."

Grocery Item of the Month!

CfishThe bag labeled "Breakfast" last month was actually ... Oreo cookies! I'm not sure of the rationale for bagging Oreo's and selling them as "Breakfast", but I have seen similar bags offered on altars, and at the many temples in this country. (Singapore is 45% Buddhist.)

This month's Grocery Item may be more challenging. Can you identify it?

Thank you!
