Brigitte's Teaching!
Brigitte is enjoying teaching a New Testament Survey class of 15 student wives. English is a 2nd or 3rd language for many of these women, so pray for their comprehension. Also pray for the unique issues these women face: Two Moms need to bring their (cute) newborn babies to class. And one woman is helping her husband recover from dengue fever. (Yes, it does occur in Singapore.) Some of these women will graduate in May and serve with their husbands in places like: Central Asia, East Asia, Middle East, and Korea. They need to trust God for full support for their next ministry assignment.
After her youngest son entered university Jeanie wanted to learn more about her faith so she enrolled at EAST. She is Korean, and has attended church all her life. But she was still unsure about her personal relationship with Christ. Especially whether she could be 100% sure she was going to heaven. So Brigitte met with Jeannie to explain the gospel. And she included two of the Korean wives to help with the language. Afterwards Jeanie sent this email to Brigitte: "The lesson ... gave me faithful mind without any doubt. I appreciate you and all EAST member's considerations. I really have been newborn in this quarter. I pray this is not just a turning point but something that will last for long."

Accreditation
As of January 2010, EAST has graduated 223 alumni. Of these, a staggering 91% are in full-time Christian ministry. More than a quarter (29%) are cross-cultural missionaries, and they serve in 20 different countries around the world. Of course many are with our parent organisation, Campus Crusade for Christ. But many others are pastors, church leaders, or serving in evangelism and mission work.
These are a few of the encouraging facts that have emerged from the self-evaluation exercise EAST conducted for our accreditation. Right now a team from Asia Theological Association is on campus evaluating EAST so we can continue to offer accredited degrees. Many things in our self-evaluation were encouraging. But other areas still need growth. Pray for EAST's leadership to take the right steps to help us continue to grow.

Grocery Item of the Month!
There was a lot of interest in last month's Grocery Item. As many people guessed, it was: Chicken Feet. If you guessed correctly, your prize of Chicken Feet will be airmailed to you shortly! ... What's that? ... You didn't actually want to eat them? ... Well, I must say ... I ... can't say that I blame you!
This month's Grocery Item should be easy to identify. It's even labeled for you. How hard can that be? |
