Hi!

In June we enjoyed a short vacation, but it wasn't a complete break. I preached a series on Colossians for four Sundays in June at Crossroads International Church here in Singapore. Go to: www.cicfamily.com if you want to listen to the sermon series.
A Testing Time!

Our biggest struggle in Singapore has been living without a car. So we were overjoyed when some missionary friends said we could borrow their car as they return to the US for June and July. Since our international license is only good for a year, Brigitte and I went to test for our Singapore driver's license. Unfortunately I failed the first test, which is to write down the correct time for the appointment!

After studying like crazy we arrived at what I was certain was the right time only to be told we'd missed the appointment and would have to return in a month! The lesson here, for the youngsters at home, is make sure you write down the right time for your appointments!

A Vacation Adventure!Monkey 2

It was a hot, humid, long jungle walk. Then we got lost in a one street village! Finally we made it to our destination: a natural rock pool filled with icy cool, crystal clear water! We had just got wet when we saw this Macaque picking up our bags looking for snacks. We splashed water and waved our arms to scare him away. Diego was yelling, "Bad Monkey!"

It was clear this wild monkey was used to people, and he let me get in close for a photo. But when I indicated that he should leave, he started baring fangs and screeching! I began to wish for a nice safe zoo setting . . . one with a big fence. The more I tried to scare him, the more he scared me! Addie, who knows these things said, "Don't look in his eyes or wave your arms--that communicates aggression!" Well, she could have told me that earlier!

I looked down, and we made it back unscathed. The lesson here is . . . there is no lesson here. Unless its . . . I don't know . . . read your Bible! That's the lesson. That, and don't look a monkey in the eyes!
Prayer Update

A couple of months ago I asked you to pray for one of my students from India, Paul. His fiancé Amy needed a kidney transplant and her mother would be the donor. This is the latest update from Paul:

"After much delay the surgery took place on Wednesday (20th May) afternoon for about six hours and praise God it was successful. Both Amy and her mother are doing well, although Amy was kept in the ICU as a precautionary measure to avoid any infection which could cause the rejection of the kidney. A lot family members, friends and well wishers gave graciously last week just before the surgery and we thank God for that and answering my prayers."
J fruitFruit of the Month

April's fruit was . . . Lychee. This month's fruit is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world. Can you identify this fruit?
Now I am busily preparing for our new quarter which starts on July 6th, and another 4-week series in a church. Brigitte will be teaching a New Testament Survey class to the seminary wives this quarter as well.
The lesson here is we still need your prayers.

Thank you!
