To celebrate the 100th day of school, Diego's 2nd grade teacher told her students they could bring to class 100 pieces of anything they chose. For example, one nice girl brought 100 sea shells. Our son came up with the idea (on his own) to bring 100 sheets of toilet paper!
Turns out its not as easy as it sounds to count 100 sheets of toilet paper, so he recruited his mom and sister to help. It wasn't until he arrived at school that he found out he had to tell the class what item he had chosen, what it was used for, and why he chose it!
When he got home Brigitte tentatively asked him how his "presentation" went. He replied, "It was great Mom, everyone laughed!" Yep, that's my boy! |
EAST News
In addition to my lecturing duties I have been given the responsibility of Dean of Admissions. The pressing need in this role is to recruit more students to EAST.
Our students come from two main sources: Campus Crusade for Christ ministries in South East Asia, and churches in Singapore.
So I have started visiting churches here to promote EAST when our faculty have speaking invitations, and I will be traveling to a regional leadership conference in Thailand in May to represent the seminary. In March I will be speaking in two churches myself - on the 15th and the 29th. Please pray for my preparation and delivery on those two occasions. |

Thuy (pronounced "Twee") was born in Vietnam during the war. As a result her birth certificate lists her birthday as February 19 rather than the day she way actually born (Jan 4). That was when her parents could actually register her birth.
Since she became a Christian she wanted to use her birthdays to honor the Lord. So instead of expecting birthday cards from others, she writes birthday cards and gives them to people who have influenced her life. In the first year she gave cards to her parents telling them how thankful she was for them. This year she gave a card to me, her lecturer.
She wrote, "Thank you for being a part of my life as I journey with God. I believe God brought you here to bless my life, impact my life through your teaching here." |
Fruit of the Month
Last month's fruit was Mangosteen!
We love this month's fruit, but it is very rare and unique. Can you identify it? |
