The weather on June 25th couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion. Partying on the back lawn of the Elks Club overlooking the river to the tunes of live reggae music made for one special and fun evening. Look for this fun event next year; we're already working on adding some new elements and hope you'll turn out in support.
Best regards,
Nancy Adams, Executive Director |

Facade Grants are being made available to business owners in the expanded (west side) district of the SID. Facade grants were one of the tools RiverCenter used in its beginnings to improve the look of the downtown, by improving the "street wall." As important as public improvements such as lighting and new crosswalks are, facade improvements, even to small storefronts, help improve the overall look and image of the business district. The grants RiverCenter is offering are limited to $2,000 each and must be matched dollar for dollar by the business or property owner applying for the grant. Approval of the design by RiverCenter's Visual Improvement Committee (VIC) is required before a grant will be awarded. Grants are payable after the project is completed to their satisfaction. Guidelines and applications are available from RiverCenter. Call or email for more information. |

RiverCenter Awarded Marketing Grant! Is it rude to congratulate ourselves? Well, we don't care if it is or not, because it's good news! We submitted application for the Cooperative Marketing Grant offered by the State Division of Travel and Tourism in early May in the hope of receiving funding to market Red Bank outside of the town along the NJ Transit commuter train lines. We applied for $25,000 grant and received notification last week that we are being awarded $16,500.
So! Now the real challenge begins!! We are brainstorming to develop a longer term branding campaign and a slogan to get people to remember Red Bank when they are considering a day or weekend trip. We have also talked with the Marketing department of NJ Transit and are brainstorming ways to partner with them to promote rail ridership and Red Bank at the same time. One idea is to offer special discount at a local business or businesses for anyone who shows their NJT rail ticket. (Let us know if you're interested in being one of those businesses.)
We need your help! Help us come up with a slogan or theme that will spark someone's interest in coming to Red Bank's business district! Email your ideas to, exdirector@rbrivercenter.com and maybe your ideas will help us come up with a winning slogan!

Sidewalk Sale Tips

Suggestions for making the sale as profitable as possible!
Get rid of items that have been sitting on your shelves for too long. You are better off selling it for a dollar than having it take up valuable space in your store.
Display merchandise in a fun and interesting way and keep it stocked because customers will walk past if it looks sparse.
Ask store personnel to make sure displays are neat and make sure they know the lower prices.
Clearly display your sale items and have some additional sale items inside to draw people in your store.
Use clear and easy prices with some volume discounts.
Send out a reminder email to your customer database a day or two before the event.
Consider giving an extra discount to your regular customers.
Stay open at night - StreetLife performers will be out from 7 - 10 PM on Saturday, July 26th.
Have fun!
