Welcome to Red Bank RiverCenter
The warmer days of spring are upon us now; a busy time for Red Bank! Events bring people to town, it's important for businesses to work at getting those people into their stores and restaurants! We urge you to get creative and try new and different ways to get those people walking around the district to walk inside your business! This economy is affecting us all in more ways than we normally consider. Gas prices leave us with less money to spend, especially on non-essentials. Think about it, most people think twice before making a purchase of $100 in a store or spending that to go out to eat; now they routinely have no choice in spending that just to fill their gas tank.
We know that sometimes events don't create more business for stores; but they create an atmosphere that make people want to come back. Remember people may not go into your business when they're here for an event, but they may come back knowing you're there. So, keep the lights on and your business attractive and people will return. Events like the one this past weekend are even more popular in these economic times because it's free entertainment. Likely, attendees will be more from this area than from farther away like years past; this means your business might benefit more by returning customers. So, take advantage where you can!
Best regards,
Nancy Adams, Executive Director |

Tips for Businesses: "It's The Economy, Stupid!"
No offense intended; just a famous quote from politics gone-by. But these are challenging days for small business owners. Every day, we hear more bad news about the economy and whether or not we're in a recession. We know about the almost daily increase in gas prices which sends ALL of our costs soaring! Pedestrian traffic is down EVERYwhere, not just in Red Bank. And even when there is pedestrian traffic, fewer of those pedestrians are carrying shopping bags. People are just holding on to their money in these uncertain times.
Because times are bad, something no one single person or entity can do anything about, running a small business is more challenging than ever. You cannot control the economy that is making doing business so hard. We urge business owners to realize what they can and cannot control. The one thing you can control is what happens inside your own four walls! What can you do to survive and even thrive? What can you do to make the best of a bad situation and ride the tide until things get better?
These hard times require imagination and positive thinking. Be creative! Think of new and different ways to draw customers into your business! Don't complain to them about how bad business is! Would you want to walk into a business and hear that? That's a sure way to make sure they don't ever come back. So, put on a happy face for your clients, and thank them for coming in even if they don't purchase anything! If they have a pleasant experience in your business they will return to purchase when things get better!
Let's all work together to hang in there!
