Welcome to Red Bank RiverCenter
Greetings!
As the new year begins, RiverCenter is revamping our bi-monthly newsletter in order to improve communication and to offer it in a more interactive format. (Thanks to Rob at Red Ginger Home for suggesting Constant Contact, we're testing it and hope it's successful!) You'll notice that articles are introduced on one page; if any of them are of particular interest to you, you can click on the link in the first page introduction to read the complete article. We'll also include regular calendar, contact, and event information in each newsletter. And, you will have the ability to link directly to our website as well as to forward the newsletter, subscribe, or unsubscribe to it.
We believe it is vital to the success of any business district that communication is thorough and consistent. We hope that you will also communicate with us so that we can all work together to make Red Bank the best for your business.
On a personal note, upon starting as the Executive Director on October 1, I was plunged feet first into Holiday events, learning the geographic area, and getting caught up on RiverCenter's history. I also have been busy meeting the many people involved in this vibrant community, and there are LOTS to meet! RiverCenter Board and Committees, business and property owners, media sales people and editors, community leaders, and more. I have met many of the over 500 business owners in the district, and have many more to meet. In the meantime, I spend time, with the help of our staff and volunteers, to do the actual work of RiverCenter; it's tough to do it all at once.
RiverCenter's offices are here for the business and property owners first and foremost. If we don't stop into your business and you want to see us, please call or stop in to see us! You can call anytime to let us know issues that arise, problems you see that we might not know about, and share ideas for improving the district. Together, we can make this district the best it can be!
Best regards,
Nancy Adams, Executive Director |

Changes at RiverCenter
The hardest working woman on the planet is finally taking some time for herself! Harriet Cook will be going to 3 days/week here at RiverCenter! What will we do???
Seriously, we're not sure how well everyone knows how much work Harriet does for RiverCenter! Rarely is an organization lucky enough to have such a hard-working, principled, and dedicated person in their midst. RiverCenter has been very lucky to have had Harriet working here for the last 12 years!! And, we're thrilled (and relieved) that she's staying on. She'll be working Tuesdays - Thursdays and will be concentrating on the management of the office and finances. Thanks, Harriet!
So, we've hired a Program Manager to take over events and communication (i.e. newsletter) and to work with Nancy Adams on Marketing. Valerie Ryan will start working with us beginning January 23rd. Valerie is experienced in event management and marketing and, along with learning the district and all the rest, will review with us RiverCenter events and programs. So, RiverCenter may be revamping old events and creating new ones for Red Bank.
We have heard from business owners the need for more marketing in the changing and more competitive environment around us, and we completely agree! This will be a main focus of our work in 2008.

Another Newsletter
Part of the reason we want to use a different newsletter program and format is so that we can also market to the residential community! We plan to create a newsletter that advertises what's happening in Red Bank and want to also use it as a venue to get the word out about events and sales happening at your business too, if possible. It will be a work in progress, beginning with the challenge of gathering a database of residents to distribute to. If you have email addresses you would like (or are able) to share with us in order to promote the district, please contact us at the office and we will arrange to get them from you.
Keeping our town clean
Each and every member of RiverCenter can help out by keeping the area in front of their business clean. Sweeping and picking up garbage may not be what you enjoy doing, but remember; winter winds are here and the sidewalk is the front entrance to your business and is the first thing your customer sees.
The weather has been unusually warm, but winter is here and the following businesses do snow removal. Contact them early, as their time fills up quickly.
Five Star Cleaning - 732-617-1448
All Purpose Hauling - 732-409-2442
If any of the businesses know of other companies that they could recommend, please contact RiverCenter at 732-842-4244.
Look for new businesses opening soon:
Eye Candy, 90 Broad Street
Asher Nieman Gallery, 16 Monmouth Street
A Peaceful Home - 64 Broad Street - reopening in January
Fins & Feathers is now open at 158 Monmouth Street
The UPS Store - is now open at 68 White Street
Senor Pepper - new owners of La Chalupa at 60 Bridge Ave.

Red Bank's Centennial Celebration
2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the borough of Red Bank's incorporation. There will be events throughout the year dedicated to celebrating this anniversary. RiverCenter's events will all be titled to pay tribute to the centennial.
RiverCenter will be doing what we can to assist in some of the events, including promoting them to our membership. To that end....
A celebration is being planned for the weekend of May 17 and 18, with a parade and a picnic on Saturday and a sailing regatta on Sunday. Stay tuned as more details will follow soon. If you are interested in volunteering and/or participating, please contact RiverCenter at rivercenter@rbrivercenter.com.
Be the Eyes and Ears of Our District
Working together to keep Red Bank a great destination is our mission. RiverCenter is asking each business owner and employee to work toward keeping the town clean and attractive. Each business owner can be the eyes and ears of what makes the town great by doing your part to keep Red Bank a vibrant community. If you have an issue or see a problem in town, please contact either RiverCenter or the appropriate borough office. Together we can strive to keep Red Bank a great destination with a warm smile and a friendly greeting to our neighboring businesses.
