Holiday Greetings!

Our best wishes to you all for a joyous holiday season and a happy, prosperous new year. We are thankful for our many blessings, among them our community of co-workers, customer and suppliers. As we celebrate, let us also remember, in our thoughts and actions, others who are less fortunate. Please pick a food bank or other charity to support!

 Build Boston: Booth
Photo: Transformit
Our booth at Build Boston illustrates how exhibitors can use the rules at a trade show to good advantage: because our space was at the perimeter of the hall, we were allowed to go higher than the usual limit of 8 feet for a 10' x 20' booth. Two Ariels (from the Dream Spinners collection) were arranged in yin-yang orientation, standing sixteen feet tall. Each was lit internally by high-intensity white LED tape lights arranged on the frame before it was dressed with fabric. These lights made the fabric glow, and our tall, bright installation drew visitors like moths to a flame. The pieces could have been suspended from above, but to save the hassle and expense of rigging, we supported them from stage "jacks" hidden behind the large graphic wall. Contact us for more information about how to do this.

Build Boston: Bash A Live Art Experience
Photos: Transformit
"This Bash was not your garden variety trade show get-together with wine and hors d'ouevres and good-bye," says Cindy Thompson. "It was like when I was starting out, doing performance art with a partner: we started out with a story. Some people got it, and some made it up on their own, and some just enjoyed the experience." SOUNDSCAPE was an art experience made from several elements: glass cymbals by MassArt glassblowers, music performance by Berklee School of Music students, and sculptural architecture by Transformit. SOUNDSCAPE was directed and produced by Savvas Spyridopoulos and the BLiNK Project Group. "People stayed for a long time at this event because it was engaging. They talked and asked questions and took part in the process. And the music was really good!"

Airplanes, Over Water Landover, MD
Photos: M-NCPPC, Dept. of Parks & Recreation
This installation over the Leisure Pool at the Prince George Sports & Learning Complex looks like kites or airplanes soaring and banking over the kids' pool. The original design called for wings (with no frame) to be rigged across the entire room. We quickly realized that the many cables required would make the piece too difficult to install and maintain. The solution was the Airplane FireFly, in which the wing is stretched over a shapely frame that can be suspended from a single point. Even then, the timing of the installation had to coincide with a scheduled draining of the pool: our installers are comfortable working high in the air, but they can't walk on water!

Brabant Business Meeting 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands
Design: Libema Photo: Transformit Report by Roland DeWit, Transformit, the Netherlands: The "Brabant Business Event" is a regional business networking event. (Brabant is one of eleven regions in the Netherlands.) It was held in the new addition to a large complex in 's-Hertogenbosch, a city in the south of Holland. The client (and owner of the facility) is Libema. The job was done in cooperation with Stage-Light who lit the event. Six hundred people were invited and we got a lot of positive comments. We hope for more orders from Libema in the future!

Connecticut Science Center Event Hartford, CT
 Photo: Rider Productions
Sally Rider of Rider Productions and Transformit worked together to create a memorable experience for the Connecticut Science Center's "Green Gala" fundraising event. Sally wanted to complement Cesar Pelli's architecture and highlight the "Green" theme. Well-lit Dazzles, Morning Glories and Lotus Petals added bright color and energy to the event, enjoyed by over six hundred attendees. A successful fundraising effort for the Science Center and a happy client were the result.
