For more than six decades, the IFAI International Achievement Awards (IAA) has recognized excellence in design and innovation, highlighting truly spectacular work in the specialty fabrics industry.

This year marks the 63rd annual IAA competition. Entrants were encouraged to submit projects and compete in 29 categories. In all, IFAI received 383 entries from 13 countries. Entries were judged by industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals who were selected for their knowledge in a particular field of study or product area. Winners were selected based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function.

The International Achievement Awards competition is sponsored by IFAI, a not-for-profit trade association whose 2,000 member companies represent the international specialty fabrics marketplace.

Portland's Ocean Gateway was the setting for Harvest on the Harbor, Maine's premier food and wine event. Three days of tasting and sampling took place in an event room made festive by a colorful installation of FireFlys and Morning Glories.

Maine has long been famous for lobster and seafood, and there is a growing "foodie" trend. In fact, Portland, with 60,000 residents, has 250 restaurants. Hothouse tomatoes, organic vegetables, the craft ales, vodkas made from Maine potatoes, and specialty cheeses are among the options for hungry and thirsty visitors and locals. Bon appetit!

Adam + Eva is the annual award evening for Germany's event and exhibition industry. We were pleased to install our Lotus Leaf Tunnel for the entryway, and to be present as Gold Sponsors of this successful event, held at the Rosengarten, Mannheim.  We saw many industry friends, and made many new acquaintances. Our thanks to pro event live-communication GmbH, who produced the show.

GE Annual Shareowners Meeting

EP&M International produced displays for the 2010 General Electric Shareowners Meeting held in Houston. This award-winning event and exhibit design/ management firm chose 25'x25' Dancing Star wings to float above the area showcasing GE's product portfolio. The wings transformed the dark ceiling space into a lofty, illuminated canopy perfectly complimenting the technology below. Eye-level interactive kiosks and screens provided a way for attendees to dive deeper into information, while larger messages appeared on over-sized fabric panel product displays.
