Freeman wins LSA Staged Event Award at INFOCOMM

ALA stage by Freeman

Freeman's stage design for the American Library Association's Annual Conference won 'Best Overall Staging for a Corporate Industrial Entertainment Event', awarded by Lighting and Sound America at INFOCOMM. The stage used Transformit's Arabesque (center) and Crescendos (left and right).

One judge commented: "It is difficult for a lighting submission to grab attention when it's up against so many great total staging projects with video. But lighting is one area that can own a show if it is done properly and this event exemplifies the power of light over the audience." Freeman's lighting designer was Anne Sedlock, with programming by Dabney Forest. Dabney said: "It's not often we get such a great canvas to paint our lights on."

The quotes read:

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"- Eleanor Roosevelt
"Don't be afraid to give up the good to go for the great"- John D. Rockefeller
"Imagination is intelligence having fun"- (anonymous)

a3All the World's a Stage
Outdoors and Temporary, or Indoors and Permanent

This summer, Transformit took a leading role on two stages: a temporary outdoor stage for the Freeport Shakespeare Festival's production of The Tempest, and a permanent (indoor) proscenium and stage curtain for the Merriconeag Waldorf School.

The Tempest was performed in the courtyard of L.L.Bean's flagship store in Freeport, ME. The challenging weather (breezy and cool) rewarded those who came prepared with blankets, and gave stage managers and set designers plenty to watch! With the exception of the custom-made "forest canopy", the set pieces were taken from Transformit's rental inventory.

The stage of the Merriconeag Waldorf School survived its first seven years without a curtain. Transformit's owner donated the design, production and installation of this proscenium in gratitude for the fine education her daughter received there. The green stage pieces are Transformit's Grace Notes.

The panelists represent a wide range of experience with creative business and finance, and their viewpoints are also quite different. It's bound to be an interesting evening! The event is generously sponsored by Key Bank.

The panelists are Skip Bates (Bangor Savings Bank), Jane Harmon (Key Bank), Fred Lipp (Bernstein Shur), Peter Moore (Corporate Finance Associates), Nord Samuelson (North Main LLC), and
