second.article A Successful International Collaboration
TechnoGym, Migliore+Servetto, The Production Network, Freeman and Transformit

The Challenge:
In 2007, TechnoGym, the Italian manufacturer of fitness equipment, chose architects Migliore+Servetto of Milan to redesign their trade shows world wide. The Production Network (TPN) had been hired to manage TechnoGym's US trade shows. The daunting costs of building, transporting, storing and installing a traditionally constructed exhibit at Technogym's 130 shows necessitated a more economical solution: one that did not compromise the design.

The Collaboration:
TPN sought Transformit's expertise to develop a solution using lightweight aluminum framework and digitally printed mesh fabric panels. Because neither the architect nor the end-user were familiar with the materials and construction we proposed, Transformit agreed to construct a working prototype. Representatives from TechnoGym Italy, Migliore+Servetto in Italy, TPN in Seattle and Freeman Show Services in Seattle (who were to install it) met at Transformit's Maine fabrication shop, to view the prototype, discuss and come to agreement about the details, and get to know each other. Two days later we began production.

The Result:
The primary benefit of our two-day charrette was to make each of us trust in the integrity and competence of the ohers. The production phase was as smooth as could be imagined, and the resulting first installation, at the 2008 International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) show in San Diego, exceeded expectations for overall traffic, leads and quotes.
"I believe the Industry will remember IHRSA 2008 as the TECHNOGYM Convention. No doubt that everybody in San Diego was talking about our booth, and the way in which we clearly indicated the difference between the "wellness" way from the "fitness" way."  Claudio Bellini, CEO, Technogym USA
"The event was by far Technogym's best IHRSA ever. Our Italian team consistently praised your professionalism and respected your ideas/contributions. They LOVED working with our new team because they felt that you '"had the passion'" for the project - and Italians are all about passion. I truly believe that you are the best in the business and that we rocked the show because of your amazing support and dedication. Our success is your success." Courtney Peddicord, Technogym USA
