Ready-Made Environmental Graphics Expand the Designer's Palette

Here is yet another reason to go Ready-Made: Fabric skins with pre-printed environmental graphics, to mount on pieces from our Fascinating Rhythms collection. We call this collection of graphic skins NATURA.

Jewelry exhibit, design: Exhibit Management Corp. (with Riffs/ Poolish)

Six images, shown below on our RIFF S-shaped wall, are available for rent or purchase on two sizes each of Grace Note, Lyric, Riff, Trill, Arabesque, Tremolo, Crescendo and Legato. There are a lot of choices! To learn more, download the Natura PDF and the catalog. Then give us a call or write us. We're eager to know what you think! And if you're really inspired, see the article below about sharing your designs.

We think sustainability means more than being carbon-neutral. It means taking care of people, too! Studies show that people are happier and perform better when they are in the presence of nature, and while we can't bring them the real thing, we think environments made using these images will be pleasing to many people.

third.article Woodstock Museum Installation
Large Graphic/Acoustic Panels at the Museum at Bethel Woods

In May of 2008, a new museum about Woodstock and the Sixties opened in Bethel, NY on the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival. Designed by Gallagher & Associates, the museum features artifacts, interactive displays and never-before-seen film footage. The New York Times called it "... a tie-dyed time machine that puts those iconic three days of peace, love and music into historical context."

Hadley Exhibits chose Transformit to engineer, fabricate and install several large graphic panels which also softened the space's lively acoustics.

fashion Interior Design Boston: Fashion Show 2008
Burt, Hill Architects, Transformit and Knoll Textiles
collaborate to win "Most Original" Award at Annual Fashion Show

Each fall, the New England Chapter of the IIDA (International Interior Design Association) hosts Interior Design Boston, an event which showcases the vitality and creativity of Boston's interior design community in a gala evening fashion show. The fashions are designed, constructed, and in some cases modeled, by collaborative teams of architects and industry suppliers

2008 marked the event's 10th anniversary, themed Design DECADEnce, at the Westin Hotel, Copley Place, on October 30th. Over 1000 people viewed entries from thirty-three design teams.

Burt, Hill Architects chose Transformit and Knoll Textiles as their partners. The entry, in keeping with the theme, quoted Oscar Wilde: "Classicism is the subordination of the parts to the whole. Decadence is the subordination of the whole to the parts." Three models took to the runway with individual fashion statements, topped by unique hats (designed and engineered by Transformit's Mackenzie Case and Bob Crosby), and united in a collective design statement in which the three hats became a single corset. The judges got the idea, and Burt, Hill, Transformit and Knoll got the "Most Original" award.

This event depends on the generosity of Architecture & Design sponsors.  The Architecture & Design sponsors help to underwrite the event, and donate a portion of the proceeds to New England charities. We at Transformit are honored to have been included.

design-contest Share Your Ready-Made Installation Designs
  First Entry is a Winner

Use the CAD models of our Ready-Made structures to design an installation. If we like your design, we'll publish it here and pay you $100.

The first $100 recipient is Bruce Hunter of Triad Creative Group, who had already designed this exhibit for Wilbert, using six Ariels from our Dreamspinners collection, and one Projection Screen II.

Bruce wrote: "Wilbert was quite happy with the result, achieving the high-tech look they were looking for and winning their third consecutive Best-of-Show award. One of our objectives is to offer our clients environmentally friendly exhibit solutions. The Transformit Ready-Made components are a useful tool, allowing us to give our clients a big presence at Trade Shows while reducing their shipping and drayage costs."

Give it a try! The rules are simple:

Transformit Ready-Made structures must play a prominent role in your design.
The design must have a context, such as "Children's Hospital Lobby in Salt Lake City" or "Stage Set for Boeing Corporate Meeting" or "Berlin Night Club".
You give Transformit permission to publish your design and to use it for promotional purposes.
If we choose to publish your design, we will pay you $100.
If your design is sold and installed as a result of being publicized here, we'll pay you an additional design fee.

Your installation can be permanent or temporary. The context is up to you. You can submit as many designs as you like. We are interested in creative use of our Ready-Made structures. We'd love to hear from you!
