STATUS of Legislative Messages Received: Over the last week, 1,500 messages about this issue were received by Florida senators, and 1,495 messages were received by Florida representatives. For details on who received these messages, here is access to an Excel file. Note the four worksheet tabs at the bottom of the Excel file: # Senate Messages, # House Messages, Senate Messages Ranked, House Messages Ranked.
OUR GOAL is to get the total arts and cultural grant appropriations' line items for FY 2010-2011 as close as we can to the total State appropriations we received for cultural- grant line items in Fiscal Year 2008-2009, which was $6,249,000. Even this modest State investment goal represents an 81% cut from what we received in FY 2006-2007, which was a total $34.7 million for arts and cultural grant line items. We certainly want to at least sustain the current $2.5 million for the Cultural and Museum Grants line item. Florida now ranks 49th in the country in per capita funding for arts and culture and only invests 14 cents per Floridian.
LEGISLATIVE PLATFORM DETAILS: For details on what our goals are for the 2010 Florida Legislative Session, refer to our 2010 Top Arts, Arts Education, and Cultural Legislative Platform.
