November 30, 2011

Snow, snow and more snow!  And just in time for the opening festivities of the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority's 5th Annual Holiday in the Park at Howell City Park (corner of Thompson and Barnard Streets.)  The winter weather that hit last night is the perfect backdrop to begin the holiday season.  Come and join us this Friday, December 2nd from 6:30-8:30pm.

100 Trees have been decorated by community groups and families and they are gorgeous! The evening will begin with a grand entrance from Santa at 7:00pm to light the trees and Santa will also be available for professional photographs with the kids (additional cost). Carolers will be singing, bellringers will be ringing, the bonfire will be lit, horse drawn carriage rides will be available (additional cost of $5/person), and lots of hot chocolate and cookies will be served.  And if the weather cooperates, as a special treat, we will be sending up "sky lanterns" with special messages to Santa headed direct to the North Pole.  Don't miss out on all the fun.

See you on Friday night at Howell City Park

Last Chance to Sponsor a Holiday in the Park Tree

Holiday in the Park

Last call to sponsor a tree for Holiday in the Park.  This can be a wonderful way to create great memories that will last a life-time with friends and family. This is a great opportunity to support community recreation, advertise your business or extend holiday wishes to your friends and neighbors. We are encouraging local families, businesses, church groups, services organizations, and anyone else who is looking forward to the holidays to help us create an enchanting setting in Howell City Park.

We have six foot trees available for $40. For your donation, we'll provide the tree, the electricity, and a sign by your tree. You provide the LED lights, an extension cord, and all the decorations. Decorating will take place between 9am on Saturday, November 26th through 12pm on December 2nd.   You only have 3 more days and then we'll be opening the park for public viewing.

To reserve your tree, contact the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority at 517-546-0693 or visit our website at www.howellrecreation.org.
