September 15, 2011
The cool fall weather today got me thinking even further into the season.
While I know that it is a long way off yet and no one is really thinking of the holidays in December, we wanted to get your minds thinking about all of the trees that will need to be decorated at the Howell City Park this holiday season.
Over 100 trees are "purchased" each season by churches, scout troupes, school organizations, non-profits, downtown business, community members and families and then decorated for the "Holiday in the Park" event that will open on Friday, December 2nd and run through December 25th. The park is open for vehicular traffic to view the lights and partake in this very special holiday attraction.
If you are interested in helping us get all of these trees decorated, for $40 we will provide you with a beautiful 6 foot evergreen and the electricity to light your tree at the park, and a sign at your tree stating that you (or your group) decorated it, if you will take the time to plan the decorations and lights.
Come by the Bennett Recreation Center for more information and we'll sign you up. It is a fun way to get your collegues, friends and family together to celebrate the holiday with Howell Parks & Rec.
P.S. If you like what you see, please take a minute to to your friends, family, and other parks and recreation enthusiasts and encourage them to subscribe by joining our mailing list! News and information from the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority will be forwarded to you each and every Wednesday.

Thank You to Volunteers and Participants |
 |

|

The 1st Annual Downtown Pooch Posse was a great success. On Saturday, we were able to deliver 548 pounds of pet food to Gleaners Food Bank. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers and all those who participated. So Howell Parks and Recreation would like to give all the volunteers and participants a BIG thank you and let you all know that your help was very much appreciated. See you next year!

|
| |

There are still openings in the M/W/F preschool class. Enroll your child today in one of these active, high energy classes which offer positive parent-child experiences and a love of learning. Your child will enjoy music, art, dramatic play, storytelling and much, much more! Each class is prepared to be a quality learning experience. Children will investigate the world around them using hands on activities as well as field trips and community visitors. Our program is well established and our teachers are certified with over 11 years experience
Our programs are based on the belief that children learn through their interaction with adults, other children and their environment. Supportive interactions lead the child to a positive self-image that will provide a sound basis for all subsequent learning. Our programs focus on the whole child. They are designed to enhance social, emotional, cognitive, physical and creative growth. We emphasize the importance of working cooperatively with parents to achieve this goal.
