WinterlogoV

August 25, 2011

While January 1st might be the first day on the calendar, it is Labor Day and kids heading back to school that has always marked the start of my new year.

And it also means that the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority has a new fall and winter line up ready to go.  It is with great excitement that we announce that our fall/winter program guide has been delivered - over 35,000 copies mailed to residents and delivered to area organizations last week! If you don't have a copy yet, stop in at the Bennett Recreation Center and pick up yours today.   We have so many new activities and programs to share with you.

As the weather changes, we hope that you'll get ouside for just a bit longer and enjoy.  Join us for a game of soccer, flag football, or just head up to the new Genoa Township playground - stay active and healthy with Howell Recreation.

Teen Center Grand Re-Opening

teenlogo

From the very beginning, the Howell Teen Center has been a place where teens can come to gather with friends, interact with adults on relatively equal footing, gain recognition for their efforts and skills, make choices about what they will do and how they will do it, all in a place that is teen friendly and teen driven. Led by a wonderfully  creative and enthusiastic staff, the Howell Teen Center is located right in the heart of downtown Howell at the  Barnard Community Center, 415 N. Barnard Street. It is THE place for middle school and high school students to hang out and socialize, take classes, play video games, watch movies, get their homework done, see live bands, play ping pong or pool, and much, much more. Our center is committed to being an important part of our community - it is the ONLY one in Livingston County.

The Teen Center's grand Re-Opening is Friday, September 9th.

Regular hours of operation are 2:30-6pm Monday through Friday.

The Teen Center also hosts "Late Nights" once a month on the 1st or 2nd Friday of every month from 6pm-10pm. There is a small fee collected for "Late Nights" to cover the costs of food and programs for the evening.

Scholarship Information

The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority scholarship

program is designed to provide financial assistance to children who wish to experience and participate in our recreational  activities and programs. While it is our intent to provide  recreational activities to all residents, limitations of how much scholarship assistance families can utilize have been put into place. This ensures that each deserving child will be able to  participate in at least one activity per year. Scholarships are  available only to City of Howell, Oceola Township, Marion Township and Genoa Township residents. Please go to our  website at www.howellrecreation.org and click on the link at the bottom of the home page to find out if you are eligible and
