Howell City Park beach on Thompson Lake will be closed until further notice due to a decrease in water quality from recent storm activity and lots of water activity over the Memorial Day holiday causing increased levels of E coli. The park itself is still open but the beach area is closed and City officials are asking all citizens to refrain from swimming. Water re-testing took place today and a notice will go out through the City's website www.cityofhowell.org , on their facebook page, and reported to local media as soon as the beach reopens (hopefully tomorrow). We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Protect Your Assets |

Did you know that 50% of people 65 years or older will spend some time in a nursing home and that it costs on average $6,191/month for such care. Because neither heath insurance nor Medicare covers these costs, losing one's life savings to such costs is a natural fear. This course discusses payment options, the 2007 changes to the Medicaid eligibility rules, in-home care options, and more. The course is taught by attorney Christopher Lindsay, a member of the Elder Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
Class meets on Tuesday, June 14, from 6:00pm-8:00pm and held at the Barnard Community Center.
Cost will be $15 for City of Howell and Oceola Township residents, $21 for Marion and Genoa Township residents, and $30 for non-residents.
