November 24, 2010
At this time of thanksgiving, the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority recognized and honored all of their volunteers including seven key individuals at the 3rd Annual RECreation RECognition RECeption.
The annual award ceremony celebrates those that take the time to volunteer for the Authority and who have contributed to the success that we have enjoyed this past year. Supplementing the staff and the board are hundreds of volunteers, who have documented over 9120 hours, which calculates to over $183,000 in volunteer labor to the organization. The volunteers serve as the backbone of their programs.... from answering phones and coaching soccer/basketball/volleyball, helping at special events or cleaning up our parks, manning the front desk at the Senior Center or just making coffee, to staking trees for Holiday in the Park, being a re-enactor at the Twilight Tours of Lakeview Cemetery, to building a Buck Pole.
Seven key volunteers were honored for their additional contribution to the organization including:
Instructor of the Year: Paul Christensen
Teen of the Year: Leah Jacobs
Senior of the Year: Polly Austin
Organizational Volunteers of the Year: Boy Scout Troop 364
Coach of the Year: Eric and Janey Boeving
Corporate Sponsor of the Year: MediLodge of Howell
Volunteer of the Year: Tom Stombaugh
This group of individuals was honored for their commitment and passion to make the Howell community one of the best places to live, work and visit and to make the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority an outstanding contributor to the health and well-being of its citizens.
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you to all of our volunteers. Director P.S. If you like what you see, please take a minute to to your friends, family, and other parks and recreation enthusiasts and encourage them to subscribe by joining our mailing list! News and information from the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority will be forwarded to you each and every Wednesday.
