If you have never participated in the Howell Parks & Recreation Marshmallow Drop and Moonglow (an easter egg hunt in the dark) at Easter time than you have missed a prime opportunity to see children at their absolute happiest.  The smiles, laughter and giggles that we heard for two evenings last week at Three Fires Middle School was something that I won't forget for a long time.

A total of 150 families participated and rounded up 6000 eggs that were filled with goodies by students from the Renaissance High School.  Special thanks to Michelle Linstid-Hirschman who took on this task.  If it weren't for these volunteers, we would still be stuffing! Thanks also to the entire staff at Three Fires Middle School for being so creative in adapting their hallways and cafeteria to our needs.  A special thanks also to Walmart for donating all of the baskets, eggs and several of the special prizes and to Amerihost Inn for donating a family overnight at the Baymont Inn.  And most especially to all of our volunteers, the Ockerts, the Kraus', the Howards, the Schraders, the Mikulas, Mike Murray, Jason Wisby and also to the Easter Bunny who made a special appearance each evening!

The Howell Teen Center at Barnard Community Center is a popular place afterschool for many of the our youth and the Teen Center staff is aspiring to have all of the popular game stations in one location.  But they are missing the most popular and hard to come by...the Nintendo WII.

In an effort to raise the $300+ necessary to purchase this and a couple of games, they are selling Spartan and Wolverine candy bars at  Bennett Recreation Center for $2 each.  We feel sure that this fundraiser will help them achieve their goal to have the WII installed and ready to go in the very near future.  When you stop by, be sure to pick up one or two candy bars in the color of your choice!
