Howell Area
Parks & Recreation
Authority

February 13, 2008

Last night, the Parks & Recreation Authority approved a budget of $760,000 for the fiscal year that will begin in July.  As we prepared our budget over the course of the past month, we knew that we would have to make some very important and realistic decisions concerning our current staffing.  As most of you know, we will be downsizing our staff to reflect the current financial situation.  We restructured our organizational chart and will be eliminating the full-time senior coordinator position; our part-time preschool administrator position; and our part-time adult sports coordinator position.   Duties and responsibilities for these positions will be divided amongst the remaining staff.

We feel confident that our programs and services will remain strong and that nothing will fall between the cracks.  We will continue to provide you with a worthwhile, ambitious and active program schedule.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.  dmikula@ci.howell.mi.us or 517/546-0693 ext. 7702.

Community Theatre of Howell to Lease Space at Barnard Center

At its recent meeting, members of the Howell City Council unanimously voted to approve a one year lease agreement with the Community Theatre of Howell to lease the entire lower level of Barnard Community Center beginning on February 1, 2008.  The lease will allow the Community Theatre of Howell to expand its theatrical programs by having an alternative space for rehearsals and educational offerings.  The Community Theatre of Howell's primary location will remain at the Howell High School Freshman campus where they lease space from the Howell Public Schools.  The Barnard Center will offer them alternative space when productions overlap and rehearsal space is at a premium.

Their programs and productions are some of the finest in the County and we are pleased to provide them additional space to expand their offerings.  Visit their website to learn more at www.cththeatre.org
