Family, health and community are keys for school division

Every Student, Every Day, A Success - With a district-wide focus on learning and student success, all staff at Battle River School Division work to support each student's character, academic and relationship development.

This holistic model, known as the BRSD Pyramid of Success, rests on a foundation of family, health and community.

Battle River School Division is situated in a predominantly rural area southeast of Edmonton, Alberta. With a student population of 6800 and a total of 35 schools and programs, the division spans 6700 square kilometres. The largest centre is the city of Camrose, with a population of 16,500.

Quality Assessment as a Focal Point:
Within the realm of assessment, the school division's academic goals emphasize curricular outcome alignment, collaborative and inquiry-based learning, as well as rich, descriptive feedback. These goals are supported in many ways, including:

  • Offering high quality professional learning: There are three levels of assessment workshops available to teachers, with Assessment Series 1, 2 and 3 each consisting of three days of learning. Participation in the Assessment Series is voluntary, and enrollment grows annually.
