Assessment for Learning Newsletter, May 2009 www.etscanada.ca
Evergreen School Division's educational mission is to "engage students in learning to become contributing citizens of a democratic society." The division has embraced assessment for learning as a key strategy for achieving this goal. The Manitoba board believes that assessment, evaluation and the communication of student achievement and growth are essential to the teaching and learning process. These practices are carried out in a positive way that supports continuous learning, development and personal growth for students. The ultimate goal of assessment in the division is to help develop independent lifelong learners who regularly monitor and assess their own progress.
