Annual Meeting 2011 Snapshots

At the June 2011 Annual Meeting, members from around the state reconnected and considered Town Hall topics for 2013. The top vote getters were Higher Education and Who is Responsible for Arizona's Vulnerable Populations.
The topics for 2012, will be civic engagement and leadership.
The Annual Meeting also marked the passing of the bell from outgoing Board Chair Bruce Dusenberry to Ron Walker, the first ever Board Chair from Mohave County. Click here to view a slideshow of pictures from the 2011 Annual Meeting.

These questions, along with the recommendations from the 98th Arizona Town Hall "Capitalizing on Arizona's Arts & Culture" will form the basis of local programs and "mini-Town Hall" discussions begining in August. Energy is Topic for Fall Town Hall November 6-9, 2011, South Rim of the Grand Canyon
Preparations are underway for the fall Town Hall where participants will tackle the issue of energy. Energy sources, regulation, the energy economy and how best to plan for the future are just some of the issues that will be addressed.
The background report is being prepared by ASU under the guidance of Clark Miller, Associate Director, Center for Nanotechnology in Society at Arizona State University. Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, will be the featured speaker at this year's Fall Luncheon which will be held on Thursday, September 22nd at the Wyndham Downtown Phoenix. This luncheon will be part of "A Day of Civic Action" with the O'Connor House Project, Flinn Foundation, Center for the Future of Arizona, Girl Scouts of Arizona, and Valley Leadership.

- The Center for the Future of Arizona is now accepting nominations for the Gabe Zimmerman Public Service Awards (deadline August 1, 2011). Created to recognize exceptional public service provided by non-elected public employees at all levels of government, the awards will be conferred in three categories: Leadership, Innovation and Civic Engagement. - The Arizona Competitive Districts Coalition has launched an incredible new, free mapping tool that has already revolutionized the redistricting process in Arizona. "Redistrict Arizona" allows anybody to create, save and share mapping plans with anybody else. This will allow average citizens to engage in the redistricting process in a way never seen before.
