Record Interest Seen in Large Audiences for Outreach Programs on Legislative Reform
| | The February Outreach Program at the State Capitol included several lawmakers and concerned citizens.. |
| | Kingman Mayor John Salem addresses the audience at the March Outreach Program in Kingman. |
Eleven Community Outreach Programs focused on Arizona's government systems and the recommendations from the 97th Town Hall generated a great deal of interest throughout the state with record crowds and many shared ideas.
Each program finishes with a statement combining the collective interests, views and passions of those who attended. In Yuma, that statement reflected personal responsibility: "The key to success for these recommendations is civic education and citizen involvement at the grass roots level. Reform starts with us."
Other communities cited the importance of changing structures that may create challenges to electing the best people, as well as highlighting the importance of developing long-term and strategic planning processes.
