Town Hall Members Gather from Around the State to Determine Future Topics
On June 6, members of Arizona Town Hall convened at Scottsdale Community College to consider the topics for the fall 2009 and spring 2010 Town Halls. After hearing speakers on the top three topics from the membership poll, members convened in panels for further discussion and a weighted vote. Immigration, tax reform and economic development emerged as the top three contenders. A final decision on topics will be made by the Town Hall Executive Committee this July. |

Inspiring Innovation - Creating Solutions
The importance of informed civil discourse will be the focus of events happening on September 18, 2008 at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.
The Town Hall's first annual luncheon will include Former White House Chief Speechwriter Michael Waldman as the speaker for the 2008 Shirley Agnos Arizona Town Hall Lecture Series. This year, the lecture series is hosted by ASU in conjunction with UA and NAU. The luncheon also will honor Tucsonian Katie Dusenberry as the 2008 Shirley Agnos Legacy Award Winner.
Immediately prior to the luncheon, the Arizona Association for Conflict Resolution, in conjunction with partners in Project Civil Discourse, will hold a conference that highlights methods of creating practical and positive solutions to everything from neighborhood disputes to complicated policy issues. The Town Hall process will be featured in one of the morning workshops.
To purchase tickets for the conference or the Annual Luncheon go to http://www.mediate.com/acrarizona/.
