Young Entrepreneurs - The Lifeblood of the U.S. Economy!
Nearly 235 years ago this country was founded and built by brave, strong visionaries wishing to have more control of their lives. The original entrepreneurs. It is their blood, sweat and tears mixed with their tenacity that set the footers for the economy of this great country.
Through the years the entrepreneur's popularity and noteworthiness has faded and surfaced through different economic times. The entrepreneur has been praised and jeered, credited and discredited, recognized and ignored, even vilified. But make no mistake; every single product and service you use is delivered by a company that originated by an entrepreneur. (I can safely make that statement because if you are reading BABM, you are not living off the government.)
The engine of the USA is not powered by the government. The engine of our country is powered by the entrepreneur. What if the government had to operate its "business" like every other company? What if our elected officials had to actually pay their taxes on time like the rest of us or pay their taxes period? What if they only got paid when they actually showed up for work and contributed to the bottom line?
In the last few years several entrepreneurship undergraduate and graduate degree programs have been launched. There are good ones and not so good ones. The best programs are the ones that actually embrace the spirit and creativity of the emerging entrepreneur. They have entrepreneurs actively involved in the curriculum as instructors, mentors or program developers. The bad ones are the ones that are organized, supervised and taught by academics who have no idea how to actually launch and build a profitable company because they have been employees all their lives. They teach theory and you need more than theory during challenging economic times.
We are proud to showcase a young Tampa Bay company whose founder is a student of the USF Entrepreneurship program in the May/June issue. Be sure to read about how his company can assist you in building your company.
For the last four years BABM has received emails from across the country from young successful entrepreneurs. Many are college students in their 20s and 30s and they are inspirational examples for the next masons of our U.S. economy. On May 1st BABM will launch Ingenuity USA™ on BABM.com. We will be showcasing, supporting and celebrating young entrepreneurs from accross the USA!

Objections are not the issue. You are.
By: Jeffrey Gitomer
For some reason, over the past 60 days, the word "objection" has been the prime topic of my email buzz and my customer's requests.
Most objections are either bogus, or they're stalls, or lies, or they carry with them a hidden meaning where the customer is crying out for help, but doesn't really want to state it in those terms.
The biggest and age-old objection is "price." How many times have you heard, "Your price is too high," or "I can get it cheaper someplace else," or (the best one) "Match this price."
When a customer objects for whatever reason, they're actually telling you that they want to buy (they may not want to buy from you, but they want to buy). And if they're going to buy from you, additional answers need to be provided - answers that will provide reassurance, answers that will provide Continue Reading HERE |

the bookbinder

A person can grow only as much as his horizon allows.
-John Powell
It was now Wednesday and a week had passed since my meeting with Damon, my dental technician. I drove into my amazingly, perpetually open parking spot and saw the bookbinder was seated outside on a wooden kitchen chair. The chair was leaning against the corner of the shop's thick, wooden window frame. His eyes were closed against the warm spring sun. His hands were folded in his lap and a slight smile was on his face. I exited my vehicle a little more slowly than usual, as most of my muscles were still tight and sore from our rowing adventure.
As I walked toward him around my car, his smile broadened and despite his eyes remaining closed, he called out, "Well, if isn't my favorite student, Dr. Phillip A. Zahn. By the way, what does the A stand for?"
"Alexander," I replied.
He quickly rose from the chair and laughed, "I should have known. Would you like some coffee?"
"Why, yes, that sounds great!" I said as I started to move toward the door.
"So would I!" he said. "Let's take a stroll." He immediately began walking down the street. "People just don't walk enough anymore. I remember my teacher and I would walk for hours through the hills. Ah, those are golden memories."
My interesting friend seemed to have drifted into the distant past, but brought himself back in an instant. "So, how did it go with your meeting last Wednesday?"
