Greetings from Olsson Associates
November is a month for being thankful - for what we have and for the sacrifices made by our veterans and the armed service men and women who continue to serve. This month we're sharing some of the work we do to support our troops, both past and present, by doing what we do best - providing engineering and design services. Our work on federal projects has covered many different project types, and we'd like to tell you about them.
From all of us at Olsson Associates, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving. We're thankful for your business with our firm and the partnerships we have with you. And, to those of you who have served our country, thank you for your service.

Steady Pace of Military Projects Keeps Olsson at Arms
By Todd Skoog
As the nation's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan draw to an end, the United States military continues to invest in its infrastructure and facilities, both at home and abroad. Olsson Associates, through its Federal Government Initiative, has been pursuing engineering work at the U.S. Army, Air Force, and National Guard installations that are located within Olsson's operational footprint. The following list showcases just a few of the recent projects that the firm is honored to be a part of:

Subconsultant Work Provides Team with Unique Experience, Insight into Military World
Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rexroad APG is a military planning agency for whom Olsson has served as a subconsultant on a variety of military installation projects.
"These projects were an entirely new type of project that I had not worked on before," said Springfield Transportation Group Leader Kelly Turner. "They allow us an opportunity to do some things that are out of the norm from our day-to-day engineering work."
With a global Department of Defense client base, Rexroad APG conducts master planning for both Army and Air Force installations.

Help Decide Where Our 2011 Holiday Donation Should Go
Each year, we make a holiday donation in honor of our clients and project partners in lieu of giving gifts. In previous years, Olsson Associates contributed to Engineers Without Borders (2010) and to Charity: Water (2009).
We'd like your help again this year determining where our gift will go.
Please VOTE HERE for one of the following charities:
- Water for People - Water for People helps people in developing countries improve quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs.
- The Arbor Day Foundation - This organization inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.
- Habitat for Humanity - Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, the organization has built or rehabilitated more than 350,000 houses, providing shelter for more than 1.75 million people in nearly 90 countries around the world.
- American Red Cross - On May 22, 2011, a tornado hit Joplin, Missouri. The twister, with winds of more than 190 mph, damaged or destroyed 2,000 buildings and killed more than 100 people. Our donation to the American Red Cross would specifically go to efforts in Joplin, Missouri.
We'll announce the winner in our December e-newsletter/holiday message and on our website. |
